4.2 Current-voltage characteristic
The current-voltage characteristic is stored in the \(\mathtt{\require{color}{\color[rgb]{0.000000000000000,0.500000000000000,0.500000000000000} JVFile}}\) (\(\mathtt{\require{color}{\color[rgb]{0.000000000000000,0.500000000000000,0.500000000000000} SimSS}}\)) or \(\mathtt{\require{color}{\color[rgb]{0.000000000000000,0.500000000000000,0.500000000000000} tjFile}}\) (\(\mathtt{\require{color}{\color[rgb]{0.000000000000000,0.500000000000000,0.500000000000000} ZimT}}\)). It lists the external voltage and current density (see section 2.8), the estimated error on the current, and the internal current density. The next column shows the quasi-Fermi level splitting (in eV), averaged over each layer, followed by a breakdown of the generation and recombination rates (stored as their equivalent current densities), split into the contribution of each layer. 1 So for layer \(\mathtt{\require{color}{\color[rgb]{0.000000000000000,0.500000000000000,0.500000000000000} n}}\) one has:
\(\mathtt{\require{color}{\color[rgb]{0.000000000000000,0.500000000000000,0.500000000000000} JphotoLn}}\) is the photogenerated current density,
\(\mathtt{\require{color}{\color[rgb]{0.000000000000000,0.500000000000000,0.500000000000000} JdirLn}}\) is the direct (band-to-band) recombination current,
\(\mathtt{\require{color}{\color[rgb]{0.000000000000000,0.500000000000000,0.500000000000000} JBulk}}\) is the recombination current due to bulk traps,
\(\mathtt{\require{color}{\color[rgb]{0.000000000000000,0.500000000000000,0.500000000000000} JintLnLn+1}}\) is the recombination current due to traps the interface between layers \(\mathtt{\require{color}{\color[rgb]{0.000000000000000,0.500000000000000,0.500000000000000} n}}\) and \(\mathtt{\require{color}{\color[rgb]{0.000000000000000,0.500000000000000,0.500000000000000} n+1}}\),
\(\mathtt{\require{color}{\color[rgb]{0.000000000000000,0.500000000000000,0.500000000000000} JminLeft}}\) is the minority current at the left electrode,
\(\mathtt{\require{color}{\color[rgb]{0.000000000000000,0.500000000000000,0.500000000000000} JminRight}}\) is the minority current at the right electrode,
\(\mathtt{\require{color}{\color[rgb]{0.000000000000000,0.500000000000000,0.500000000000000} JShunt}}\) is the current flowing through the shunt resistance.
In transient simulations (like \(\mathtt{\require{color}{\color[rgb]{0.000000000000000,0.500000000000000,0.500000000000000} ZimT}}\)), the recombination currents of holes and electrons can be different, so \(\mathtt{\require{color}{\color[rgb]{0.000000000000000,0.500000000000000,0.500000000000000} ZimT}}\) splits these currents into the hole and electron contributions. \(\mathtt{\require{color}{\color[rgb]{0.000000000000000,0.500000000000000,0.500000000000000} ZimT}}\) will additionally show the time (first column) and the ionic currents (\(\mathtt{\require{color}{\color[rgb]{0.000000000000000,0.500000000000000,0.500000000000000} Jnion}}\), \(\mathtt{\require{color}{\color[rgb]{0.000000000000000,0.500000000000000,0.500000000000000} Jpion}}\)) as well as the displacement current density \(\mathtt{\require{color}{\color[rgb]{0.000000000000000,0.500000000000000,0.500000000000000} JD}}\).
